The Gardener's Notepad

For a sensational fall display, one need not look any further, because this Euonymus truly lives up to it's common name. While leaves are rich green all summer, they turn to a vibrant, almost electric red hue as soon as temperatures start to drop. 'Compactus' is the most popular cultivar, but it is not really compact at all. They will typically grow to 10 feet tall, with a slightly larger spread, but without pruning, they can reach 15 to 20 feet tall at maturity. They are also particularly stunning when planted en masse.
