The Gardener's Notepad

I don't think I can say the name of this plant without at least some passing thought of 1960's James Bond. Then the theme song begins... But anyway, that's hardly a reference to any part of the plant in question. Potentilla is incredibly hardy, and is quite common in Alaska and other brutally cold forsaken lands in the far north. It grows well in Pennsylvania, but cannot go much farther south until the heat gets the best of it. A very good yellow. Newer cultivars have been introduced, but I don't know if I'm persuaded to jump on the bandwagon just yet. This one does well, thank you.

Also goes by the name cinquefoil in some circles.
