The Gardener's Notepad
A more restrained and columnar variety of Japanese Black Pine. One of the highlights of this species is the extra large silver-white candles which arise at all of the terminal buds. The species is native to Japan and Korea and can be found growing at the shoreline in sandy, saline soil, so keep in mind that they will not do well if what passes for soil at your house is soggy and clay-like. And an easy way around a problem such as this is to create a raised bed which would allow for adequate drainage.
