The Gardener's Notepad

'Thundercloud' is aptly named, with a mounded shape that often resembles fluffy storm clouds. Compact and very heat tolerant, this plant is great in small rock gardens, planted en masse, or anywhere too hot for other perennials. Make sure to site it somewhere visible, so you can enjoy the spiky foliage and it's late summer bloom. Clusters of whitish pink star-shaped flowers attract butterflies and other pollinators.
