The Gardener's Notepad

Yellow, extra sweet fruit. Good for short season climates like ours. Again, best results will be had if grown in a large pot. And let me explain one reason why. Figs, if given too much water when ripening, will bloat and be a flat, tasteless blob of nothingness. So for instance, your tree is planted in the ground like normal, the fruit is just beginning to ripen, you're all excited, and a thunderstorm comes in and dumps an inch of rain over the ground. And while the rain was needed and otherwise appreciated, now you got figs blowing apart all over the place and they're not even that good anymore! A more controllable environment is advantageous for the best results.

However, I rarely take my own advice, and in the Fall of 2017 I planted two in my display garden. The jury is still out.
