The Gardener's Notepad

Much less aggressive than the species and far more beautiful, at least if gold is your color. Spreads by rhizomes and can colonize an area when your back is turned. New leaves are chartreuse changing to golden yellow with hints of orange. Due to it's tendency to attempt to spread it may be best utilized in a container, and the foliage color and texture lend themselves well to rusted steel. Does not require the best soil, and will do just fine in conditions that would be inhospitable to the average landscape plant. Discovered in 1985 as a mutation on R. typhina 'Laciniata'.
