The Gardener's Notepad
Introduced from China by E. H. Wilson in 1907. A member of the honeysuckle family. Flowers are reminiscent of Hydrangea paniculata, emerging pure white and transitioning to deep pink/red, degrees of which are somewhat dependent on temperature and moisture + exposure. Could/should be considered an alternative to Crapemyrtle for the Northeast. Similar in habit. Bark exfoliates nicely. An underused gem.
